Sociaal Bureau voor de Kunstenaars

SBKs are private employment agencies that are licensed to act on the part of artists and creative professionals. They assume the role of employer and fulfill the duties of an employer (administration, salary, social contribution, insurance etc.).
The creative professionals work under the legal status of temporary employee.
Young creatives often balance between unemployment (benefits) and establishing their own company (taxes etc.). Their work is often is no more than freelance assignments with long stretches of unemployment in between. SBKs allow them to work as temps with little or no administration for the employee.
